The padded inner glove with a twist. First thing you will notice will most likely be the cut off
fingers. Drawing inspiration from a bicycle glove, we sought out to make a minimalistic glove
with fewer threads and stitching. When wearing a glove underneath another glove, any
stitching will be noticeable and may create discomfort. Having the fingers free, the goalie will
have a true sensation of feeling the catching glove on their skin, as if they weren’t wearing
the inner glove at all.
By doing a small survey on 20 pro goalies, it was clear that the majority sought additional
protection on the thumb. While the performance of any catching glove locks the thumb in its
place, it was clear that we had an opportunity to make the thumb in a unique way, with
additional padding, compared to the four other fingers.
The padding. On first glance and testing, you may find the padding to be slim, compared to
other inner gloves on the market. This has been a somewhat bold strategy of ours. Through
use of other inner gloves, it was a personal opinion, that bulky padding simply felt
uncomfortable in the glove, and impaired catching performance. The bulkier the padding, the
further the fingers will be from its intended position in the catching glove. This creates
discomfort and will make it difficult to catch the puck. A thing you do not want as a goalie.
So what’s the priority? Comfort or painless protection?
We had a vision to make a glove that just made sense all around.
1. Grip
The silicon lining of the inner face of the glove gives excellent grip which leads to better
performance.
2. Protection
Although slimmer padding, there’s still padding added to high impact areas of the hand.
When the puck makes impact with the thumb or palm, the glove will help distribute the
impact and leave the goalie with a faster recovery from the inevitable stingers.
3. Feel
Some goalies prefer inner gloves for a number of reason. Other goalies can not get
comfortable with them. Here’s our concept to meet them both. With a full lycra back, the
glove is comfortable, light weight and easily cleaned and dried. With 4 fingers free, the goalie
gets the true sensation of the materials inside the catching glove.
